Rainbow Dash the model.

Manehatten, the busiest and perhaps most city like place in all of Equestria, is home to over nine thousand mares and stallions. On this very day, a Wednesday just before lunchtime, Twilight Sparkle and her friends, now very well known throughout most of Equestria, had just arrived to attend a performance of a fascinating musical that Rarity, the fashionista pony and always the most glamourous in dress style, had been a huge inspirational help behind. There was only one problem. The cast was missing a model to show off the new dress style that would be shown for the preview of the performance.
Twilight, eager to be there for her friend, stepped out of the train with Spike by her side as the others followed closely behind. “Isn’t this astonishing. We’re back in Manehatten! What a magnificent splendour!” Rarity marvelled, circling three times to take in the sights of the city.
Applejack and Rainbow Dash just looked at their friend as if she had got a blow to the head to cause memory loss. “Don’t y’all remember the stress that happened last time, Rarity?” Applejack said, a bit worried for her friend. Rarity shrugged and produced the tickets to the performance from her jewel encrusted bag. “I’m willing to let bygones be bygones, darling. After all, it’s not often the six of us are personally asked for by Photo Finish herself to assist in a crisis like this.”
Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes, annoyed. “Remind me again why I agreed to come along to this? You guys know I don’t like all that hoity toity fancy dress up scenarios. Only on extremely rare occassions.” Twilight turned to Rainbow Dash and said two words. “Thunder Bolts.” Immediately, Rainbow Dash smiled. “Oh right! Yeh I forgot for a moment they were gonna be here too. That’s pretty awesome though! Will we meet them do you think?” Fluttershy poked her head out from behind Applejack. “Um…I hope I’m not intruding on anything but that stallion has been staring at us ever since we arrived… and I feel very nervous of strangers staring.” She whispered. The group looked up at the stallion in question and Rarity’s eyes lit up in recognition and marvel. “Why, it’s Novel Wright, the famous play writer that invited us to the performance here!”
The stallion smiled and approached with pride. “So sorry to scare any of you fine ponies. I didn’t want to interrupt anything important you may be discusing. As your talented and lovely Rarity pointed out, I am Novel Wright. I wrote the performance you have all been invited to and I also am a very big admirer of all of you. But as you know, I also need some help. Perhaps one of you could assist me somehow?” Novel bowed to them gently, feeling quite exhilirated to be around the famous six mares that were making quite a big name for themselves around Equestria. “It would be our pleasure, Mr. Wright.” Twilight smiled, stepping forward. “Hey wait a minute, Novel Wright. Why does that name sound so familiar? Aren’t you the author of that series about the ponies that become dragons and have to help another world defeat like this really evil wizard?”
Novel brightened up. “Ah the Flames of Lystallion? That is me, yes. You’ve read them, Miss Dash?” Rainbow Dash nodded eagerly. “Next to the adventures of Daring Do, they’re my favourite stories! Ooh if we meet again, would you mind signing my copy of the first one?” Novel chuckled. “Of course! It’s always great to meet a fan.” Rainbow Dash squealed with delight, giving Fluttershy a bit of a fright but a happy relieved smile too. “So what seems to be the issue, Mr. Wright?” Twilight asked. “Please, just Novel will do. Well, it seems that I have no model to advertise the performance I wrote that you are all seeing this afternoon. And without a model, there won’t be any sales, and without any sales… I might have to cancel it.” He looked sad now. “Oh my gosh! We can’t let that happen! Chin up, Novel Wovel, we’ll find a model pony for you. I just know it!” Pinkie Pie jumped around Novel in excitement, as she always did. “Ah sure would be willing to help if possible, Novel sah.” Applejack offered. Novel nodded in acknowledgement. “That’s very kind of you all however, I was thinking perhaps Rainbow Dash could be the model?”
The girls all gasped. “Wha??!!”
Rarity, perhaps the most astonished, was first to speak properly. “I don’t understand Novel Wright, sir. What makes you think Rarity would be a good model? Don’t you think it would be better for me to be the model?”
Rainbow Dash nodded. “I’m not exactly model material. I can’t stay still long enough normally.” She said.
Novel chuckled. “Miss Rarity, you underestimate your friend. The model calls for a pegasus, and you have two in your group. The second thing I was looking for is a dashing, loyal, spirited, adventurous mare that likes to leap into situations for fame and glory but also to save those she cares about. And, well, you have to be fair, Rainbow Dash fits that spot quite well.”
Rarity nodded, a bit down but understanding perfectly. Even Rainbow Dash, who usually didn’t like the idea of being a model, was happy about the fact that she would be showing off the true traits she was well know as.
“Ah think ya’ll should try it, Rainbow.” Applejack smiled. “I think so too, i-i-if you want to of course.” Fluttershy squeaked.
Rainbow Dash looked back at Novel. “Ok than, sounds totally awesome! What do I have to do?”
Novel took her by the hoof and smiled. “Well, there’s one thing we have to take care of first. Your appearance. The role calls for a scruffy, red mane that is long and soft, and a red tail that is also red and long and in a curl almost constantly. And we need to change your colour too. I hope these are both ok for you?” Novel rubbed her hoof gently and kindly in hope.
“Change my mane? B-b-but…”
Rarity spoke up. “Dashie, darling, this is what calls for being a model. You need to have changes made sometimes. Please bear with it, I’m sure you’ll do fine sweetie.”
Rainbow dash grunted. “Alright… but it better not hurt.”
Novel smiled softly. “I would never hurt such a wonderful mare.” And as he finished talking, he sparked magic from his horn and Rainbow Dash could feel it enclose around her softly.
Soft, sparkles filtered through her mane slowly as she felt her mane tingle and twitch, the pointy tip at the top ever so slowly drooping down to become softer and scruffy looking and a bit curly. This process was very slow, and by the time she felt a small curl in her mane flop down to half cover her left eye, a whole minute had passed. The back of her mane extended out further and further until it almost reached her cutie mark, and it too became soft and scruffy. When this happened, Rainbow Dash saw that the rainbow colour on the tip of her mane was beginning to be overwhelmed by a dark red. Her friends stared in astonishment as this all took place and Fluttershy was even holding onto Applejack’s hoof in worry. Rainbow Dash could feel another tingle along her coat as it started to change colour from her nose and across her face, slowly. Though not as slow as her mane change was, since the red colouring in the mane was now only just reaching the flat side of her head. Rarity was amazed to see that Rainow Dash’s new coat color was now a very light purple, though not quite pink, so she appeared just a bit darker than Pinkie Pie. Rainbow Dash flicked her head around slowly to look at the new coat she was getting and when she did that she felt the mane flow over her body softly and majestically, and she enjoyed the feeling immensely. She smiled softly as her changes came to a conclusion, with her tail and mane finally flicking down into a soft, scruffy curl of red. She blinked in surprise and looked at them all. “I-is it over?” She asked Novel. “Indeed it is, and might I add that you look absolutely astounding.” He replied honestly. The other girls nodded, still a bit surprised that their friend had undergone such a change. Rarity generously offered Rainbow Dash a mirror, and when Rainow saw what she looked like, she became very excited. “Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! I recognize this form. It fits the description of the main pegasus mare from one of your stories, Novel: Red Lightning was the name if I recall.”
Novel nodded, proud that she had remembered. “Indeed! And you were my inspiration behind her, Rainbow Dash. That was why I created her, and why I knew you would be a perfet candidate to be the model for her live play performance. I hope you don’t mind being like that for some time?”
“Oh no. I think this is quite great! Totally awesome! How long would I have to be like this for, out of curiosity?” She swung her tail around in admiration and smiled at Applejack and Rarity, who seemed to very much appreciate her new form too.
“Would a month be ok?” Novel asked kindly. Rainbow Dash nearly jumped up and flew around the entire city she was so happy. “Hee hee yes I would love that! Thank you so so much! And hey, my friends can stya here to watch the play and do what they want during that time right?” She said, never forgetting about her friends. Novel nodded. “I wouldn’t have it any other way, Miss Dash.” He smiled.
So it was agreed that for the next month, while Rainbow Dash happily modelled for and even starred in the productions that followed, her friends were happy to wander and enjoy the sights and do as they wished. And when the time finally came for Dashie to change back, she almost didn’t want to but knew it was for the best that she would stay loyal and close to her friends. Novel had tried to convince her to stay, but he understood perfectly where her loyalty lied.

The End.
